About the Author
With a journalist as a father and an educational writer as a mother, Lucas Arnoldussen was brought up on writing. He contributes to the toddler magazines POMPOEN by Clavis and PipaPanda by the WWF, and writes to various teaching methods for primary schools and for educational books such as the Want to Know-series. Arnoldussen also plays in a heavy metal band that he found after his graduation at the Conservatory in Amsterdam. A striking contrast.Mark Janssen (Eijsden, The Netherlands 1974) studied at the Art Academy in Maastricht. After graduating in 1997 he established himself as a full time illustrator in Valkenburg a/d Geul, where he has a homestudio. Mark makes illustrations for both children and adults publications. He has illustrated up to 240 children- and picturebooks for almost all major Dutch and Belgian publishers. Many of his books have already found their way abroad and have been translated into over 10 languages. Meanwhile, he has also found his way as author for young readers.

Normally, I try to classify a book by what age group I think would enjoy it or read it, but I think this book is good for all ages. As a senior, I learned some things I did not know. This is a great non-fiction book to learn about all aspects of a bicycle. There are facts about the history of bicycles, types of bicycles, jobs using bicycles, how to buy one, safety equipment and more. There is a fold out page showing the inside of a bicycle shop that would keep children looking and discovering for quite a while. At the back there is a page showing how to fix a flat tire and a mini-quiz. It is written in a way that is interesting with labelled pictures, did you know bubbles, question and answers and descriptive paragraphs to hold attention. A great addition to any library, public or school. The publisher generously provided me with a copy of this book.
