It was worth what I paid for it, but that's all. Meandering, bloody, disappointing with barely believable and unbelievable action - and that term is used in the negative sense. The hero has trouble getting out of his own way. His wife tries and fails to have any consistency of character. I felt like several of the scenes/chapters were written just to get the story to book length. I truly wanted to read a good Western story. I was hoping this would be it. It wasn't.
This story continue with characters from Revenge at Snake Bend with the Williams family. It is action packed from the very start with coming upon a sirl running naked from danger. An abduction of two teen sisters and an unsuspecting duo of heroes saving the youngest sister from kidnappers and killing two of their abductors while unknowingly one additional one to get away raising an alarm in the gang.An Eye For An Eye or so it is suspected when a young bride and her 6 year old son are killed at the young woman's marriage ceremony as shots are fired and the groom is paralyzed in addition to the deaths. This is enough to get you hooked and want to read more and more to know if the gang and its leader are brought to justice since we now know the bride and groom were not the target of the ambush or get away with crooked lawyers and lawmen i.e. the crooked sheriff and deputy in Snake Bend.Okay I am not giving away mor but between blurbs, book covers and reviews you may just get and stay hooked with Joseph Powell and his historical westerns. I am suspecting that if the author does not know his guns already then enough research is found to be in the very specific descriptions in all the firearms mentioned in his books.
Great book was very well written. If you keep writing western stories you will have a fan for life. I don't know if I will be able to afford your books, but I sure hope so. I would definitely recommend this book to everyone that likes western stories. Thanks again for the free book!!
Bloody, lots of merciless killings, but still very good. As a child and teen, I had many times wished I had lived in that era. Now I'm glad I didn't. In this day and time, there are many merciless killings, but those of us who are still alive, are surviving, just as they did in the 19th century.
This is a fine story of the old West. I truly enjoyed this tale as it is exciting and interesting all the way through. I gave it four stars because it could have been better edited.
I do like this writer. Getting better all the time. No bad language.

I’ve now read three books by Author Joseph Powell, and I’m still impressed with his ability to write an extremely readable tale in the “classic western traditionâ€, and as you already have noted I’ve given it 5-Stars.Why? Well that’s easy it’s a very good story. It is well written, and Mr. Powell continues to develop his characters in “Justice Comes Home: The Texas Ridersâ€.I also found in reading this book that “I†found it quite “suspenseful†which is something that one seldom “feels†when reading books which are classed in the “Mystery, Thriller, and Suspense†genre these days.Another factor in my decision to award 5 Stars to this book was the fact that it “elicited†an “emotional response†in me, again, something that I rarely find when reading, usually my reading serves as nothing more than “pure escape†but this one was different, I became “invested†fully in what was going on at an “emotional levelâ€.Do I recommend this book? Yes of course I do, and I recommend it Highly (after all I gave it 5 Stars so why would I not). Do I feel that “everyone†who reads it will agree with me…â€certainly notâ€, but I still “Highly Recommend†as I’m certain it will elicit “emotion†within you as well.
