This book is designed to be a workbook--a resource for writing treatment plans. Be aware, if you buy the Kindle edition, the publisher puts a limit on how much you can copy from it---which means it's usefulness is limited. I can not find anywhere in the text that states there is a copy limit or how much can be copied. The limit came as a complete surprise to me. I find this to be a major flaw in the usefulness of this book for me.

This book saved my life during internship when I was learning to write treatment plans. I highly recommend this book to anyone who is just entering the field, working for an agency, and could use some suggestions for wording things to make the insurance companies happy.

When I was in grad school, vague, unverifiable goals were rejected and concrete and measurable articulations demanded. This manual is full of the vague language that already comes natural to me..."alleviate depressive symptoms..." I was hoping for help to articulate sharper goals and objectives. I did find the inclusion of evidence-based treatments and bibliotherapy suggestions very helpful.

Item not as advertised. I received a "preview copy" of the book that has thinner pages, actual printed errors on the cover, back, and inside, and a different ISBN, as opposed to the actual final published book. I compared mine with a colleague's and it was literally different. This was shocking, probably illegal, and totally unacceptable! I returned it immediately and will purchase from another seller.

As a long time therapist, this book helps jog my memory - it includes many suggested techniques. When a client isn't benefiting as much with treatment modalities, I've found it helps to process some of these suggestions with the client. - This allows the client to be part of the process which gets their buy in & effective therapy resumes! This book also helps with verbiage on Treatment Plans-helps me be more concise! Highly recommend!

I was disappointed with the breadth and scope of clinical interventions. They are repetitive across different problems and show minimum difference and improvement from previous versions. The only positive addition is inclusion of DSM 5 diagnosis.

Also serves as a guide on verbiage and suggestions on short/long term goals for client. As a new therapist I struggle with wording and this book has guided me very well. I hope that there is another one soon with my more diagnoses.

This is so so so helpful for creating treatment plans. It has tons of examples and ideas. There are so many standards and expectations that insurance companies have and they want to see a specific wording and language used. This makes things so much easier and faster so you can spend time doing the valuable work, the actual work with clients.

I am amazed by Cornwell's writing. I am amazed by Cornwell's storytelling. I am amazed with the characters Cornwell has developed in this series. I saw the TV series several years ago before I read the books and I thought it was unlikely I'd ever read the books because the TV series was quite good. I'm an avid fiction reader and love a well written series but was out of anything I liked. On that basis I decided to read the first book in the series and was surprised to find that over the years the book series had been added to extensively since the TV series. I've read the entire series up to Sharpe's sword but this is my first review. Every book has been exceptional and Sharpe's Sword has meticulously accurate historical content woven into the breadth of this fictional character's story. Cornwell has a talent for taking the reader back to the time and place minus modern sensibilities but it is all done in a respectful way. I obviously didn't live in those times but I'm an avid historical fiction and history reader and Cornwell nails down the time and place vividly without beating the reader over the head with it. I highly recommend Sharpe's Sword and would suggest to you that this is hours of very inexpensive entertainment. I recommend you start with the first chronological book of the story, look it up online so you start where Sharpe's story begins, and not with the first book Cornwell wrote. Buy it!

This is one in a series of novels by Bernard Cornwell, all of which are awesome! I first learned of this author from an article featuring Stuart Varney amongst other famous people in Newsmax. The people were all asked what they were reading at the time and Stuart mentioned Sharpe's Tiger. This book is in the series and I couldn't put it down. Stuart Varney mentioned Sharpe's tiger, which was the first book. I think it best that if you are to read this series, you should do so in chronological order to get the most out of them. If you don't they will each stand alone, but you will miss some of the things about Richard Sharpe. All of these books are centered about the Campaigns of the British army in India, Denmark, England, the Trafalger straights, Spain, Portugal, & France in the early 1800's. The stories, though fictional, are centered about real campaigns and battles fought. Cornwell has a summary of the real history at the end of each book which tell the real story. I must say I am addicted to all of them!Here is a chronological reading order for the series:Sharpe’s TigerSharpe’s TriumphSharpe’s FortressSharpe’s TrafalgarSharpe’s PreySharpe’s RiflesSharpe’s HavocSharpe’s EagleSharpe’s GoldSharpe’s EscapeSharpe’s FurySharpe’s BattleSharpe’s CompanySharpe’s SwordSharpe’s EnemySharpe’s HonorSharpe’s RegimentSharpe’s SiegeSharpe’s RevengeSharpe’s DevilWaterloo (Sharpe)The whole series is available on Kindle. There are only a handful of novelists who can describe a battle and keep it from sound like a mish-mash. The center of this book is the Battle of Salamanca. For those who have come over from the TV series this will be a revelation. The BBC TV series did not have much of a budget. That wasn't a limitation for the first few stories when Sharpe had been just promoted from a sergeant to an ensign. He had basically a squad under his command. But in the novel's he keeps getting promoted. In the previous book it was 'Sharpe's Company'. That means he was a captain who commanded a company. Here he is still a captain. This means that he still has rifles under his command but in the British Army at this time riflemen were skirmishers. That is to say they were irregular troops who went out before the main troops to scout and disrupt the enemy formations. There would only be a few skirmishers. Most of a Captain's troops would not have a rifle and would not be wear a green uniform. Most would be regular red coats who would stand in rank and file as part of a larger formation.This only gets worse when Sharpe advances up the ranks. I think he becomes a major in the next novel.The TV series can't show a full scale Napoleonic battlefield. They probably only have twenty cast members in total. But in the novels there is no such limitation. As I said before Cornwell is adept at describing a battlefield with thousands of actors moving at once. It would be nice if someone might make a full length feature film of these novels. They really do cry out for a cast of thousands.

Bernard Cornwell’s Sharpe series is great entertainment: well written, exciting, memorable characters. If you like war, adventure, history you’ll like Richard Sharpe, rifleman.

This particular edition of the novel is terrible. This goes for all the novels in this printing. The print is about 9 pts., if that. The other edition is out of print. If the novels you want are in this edition, forget it. Buy the ebooks instead. I love all the Sharpe novels, but beware this particular publishing house: unless you can read print finer than fine print ....

My husband, who is a history major and buff, is reading this series and absolutely loves it. He says it is incredibly engaging and historically accurate. If you like Patrick O'Brian's 'Master and Commander' series, you should give Sharpe a try!

This is one of the finest books that I have read in my entire life. I read this book when I was in my late teens and at that time the entire "Cosmic Trilogy" of C.S. Lewis had a great impact on me and my spiritual life. Just recently, about forty years later, I felt a strong urge to re-read the book. This second reading was even more moving than the first time I read the book. I intend to continue reading the other two books "Perelandra" and "That Hidden Strength". C.S. Lewis had the ability to write about the fabulous and unbelievable, in other words in this trilogy about voyages to other planets and encounters with the planet's inhabitants, just like J.R.R. Tolkien had the ability to write about fairies, hobbits, elves, orcs, and such! Both men were blessed with the incredible gift of being able to write about fantastical and imaginary characters and to bring them to live in their books, and in doing so, conveying from the heart of the author to the heart of the reader the most lovely spiritual revelation. Often more can be taught through fiction than the most scholarly and academic non-fiction books. I believe this is because God is love and light, and so we need men and women who can open our hearts to the love and our minds to the light, to teach us about true reality. “Like when you sit in front of a fire in winter — you are just there in front of the fire. You don't have to be smart or anything. The fire warms you.”― Desmond Tutu

This is my favorite of the space trilogy, because Lewis uses his considerable talents to reimagine a familiar story. It's experimental and combines the mythic, the theological, the speculative, and science fiction, with some fairy tale as well, and everyday humor and political commentary. We've got a thriller, too, and artistic contemplation of the Beautiful and Pure. So much going on! I'd call this the artist's book of the three, with the first the everyday citizen's work and the third the scientist/philosopher/prophet's work. Lewis sets the ground work in Out of the Silent Planet (Space Trilogy), flies into realms of imagination with PERELANDRA, and brings it all heavily (and heavenly) home in That Hideous Strength (Space Trilogy, Book 3). You might find one title appeals to you particularly, but allow the others to stretch your imagination and speculation. The variety here is what a book series OUGHT to have, not just reiterations of the same story over and again. The three novels combine to give a story as complex as the universe we inhabit.

I rate this book 5-stars in context as the second book of the trilogy. I wrote a 5-star Goodreads review of C. S. Lewis' entire space trilogy when I completed the 3rd book "That Hideous Strength." Here is that Goodreads review: WHICH FOLLOWS: I just finished reading all three of CS Lewis' Space Trilogy back-to-back (published in 1938, 1943, and 1945) over the past few weeks. First caution, don't start with the 3rd book in the trilogy. The trilogy is a masterpiece, but jumping into the 3rd book will seriously shortchange what you will understand if you read all three in order. Second caution, don't start with the 2nd book in the trilogy. The series geometrically builds the cast, plot, and stakes book-by-book. A shortcut only shortchanges you. That said, this magnificent trilogy builds a fictional setting of interlocking stories that culminate, in the third, by illustrating that hideous strength which Lewis later describes in the tiny prose book: The Abolition of Man (1947). Most people have read and enjoyed the Narnia stories from C. S. Lewis, but the Space Trilogy is the one that I keep coming back to. The stories are more adult, and still filled with his impassioned Christianity. In part one, Out of the Silent Planet, we meet Dr. Ransom, the protagonist for the series, who is kidnapped and brought to the planet Mars. There we find that each of the planets hosts an Eldil or Angel responsible for that planet. Our planet, the silent one, no longer converses with the others because our angel is the bent one.Part two, Perelandra, re tells the Adam and Eve story, but it is part three that keeps me coming back. Part three, That Hideous Strength, is simply the best book that I have read that nobody seems to have heard of.I can heartily recommend this book or this series to anyone who likes science fiction. I'm not particularly Christian, but I can appreciate that the author is.

Unable to put it down, which is a wonderful thing. I'm traveling Malacandra with Ransom, what an adventure and described in such vivid detail. I absolutely love the Narnia series (read it a few times), and was very much surprised when I learned about this series a week ago. No spoilers here, but if you like C.S. Lewis' other works, you'll definitely enjoy this.I'll update once I finish the series. I only wish the book I purchased was three separate books, rather it is one BIG book containing all three of the stories.Kinda challenging lugging it around on the train. The only time I can put the book down is when my train reaches my stop, far too quickly!

Octavia’s faith in humanity’s ability to rise above so tremendous.So imagine my absolute delight when I found out there was going to be a book from social justice movement figures dedicated to Octavia. I was ready to devour the stories and see just what was given birth from the minds of people who were already accustomed to dreaming. Any work where you fight for the marginalized if you’re not careful can make you cynical and cause you to lose sight of those dreams that propelled into doing the work in the first place. I wonder how many of these authors walked away from this collection feeling rejuvenated about their work. Because they certainly made me feel rejuvenated about mines.There were quite a number of works in this collection and admittedly, some were stronger than others. But they all came packed with a message and I think that alone is powerful. In the interest of time and modern day attention spans, I’m going to mention the works that really crawled into my mind and/or heart and lingered there for a while. Like that one friend who you know will tell you what you need to hear even when you’re not quite ready to hear it. Some of the ideas took me to sad, contemplative places. But we need to wander through those spaces as much as we need to enjoy our happier moments. A reader and most certainly a writer has to take in the full richness of life, not just its sweeter moments.“Revolution Shuffle” by Bao Phi was an excellent choice for the opening story. I was introduced to a new fear I had never thought about. Never even considered it whenever I watched anything related to zombies, but it’s a powerful point. We all know the privileged would be looking to point the fingers somewhere and in the story it was the Asians and Arabs. Like I said, it was a fear I never even considered and didn’t even realize that these groups probably live with daily. The day something terrible happens to America they’re likely going to be the ones with the finger pointed at them. It put a new perspective on things for me because it made me wonder just how much terrified a Muslim-American is of a terrorist attack happening versus your average American. They have to know that the hammer will fall on them first if such a thing was to occur. What a terrible thing to live with and this story takes that kind of racist stereotyping to a dark conclusion.“Black Angel” by Walidah Imarisha struck me with its rawness and it also taught me something new. Any story that give me genuine knowledge will always anchor itself to my mind. This tale is gritty and revolves around a fallen Angel, but fallen because she disobeyed God by saving lives during a terrible war. It makes God seem cruel, but the Bible is full of enough examples of that to have precedence. And I enjoy stories that dig into the greater religious questions without being overly for one side or the other. The reader is allowed to draw their own conclusion. As far as what I learned, I had no idea that illegal immigrants were shipped away to maquiladoras like chattel. The story made me do research and I became livid with what I read. In that way and the first, this story enlightened me.“Homing Instinct” by Dani McClain made me fearful for those who are so young and for those are still yet to be born. It broke my heart because the premise of the story seems like something that could potentially happen. The story centers on climate change and people being forced to choose a place to live in an effort to slow down the terrible damage we’ve already caused. People are going to be allotted only so many travel miles a year and people who are on the other side of the U.S. from their families (like myself) have to make some real hard decisions. This story was perhaps the most striking to me because it struck so close. I could relate to the main character’s struggle of wanting to stay true to themselves, but not wanting to leave their Mother all alone. My God, what a terrible decision to have to make on so many levels. Dani captured such immensity in such a small space. Truly a great piece of fiction here.There are quite a few other pieces in this anthology (22 if I’m numbering right) that cover topics ranging from sexism, breaking gender norms, racism, deforestation, cultural destruction, twisted medical breakthroughs and so much more. There really is a plethora of topics here available for any sci-fi fan to explore. The anthology makes a powerful point early on that if you are interested in social justice then you must be interested in science fiction. This is one of the most phenomenal selections of speculative fiction short stories that I've ever read. The framing of the book - that all activism is science fiction or speculative fiction and that to change the world, we must be able to dream of a different one - is probably my favorite framework for anti-racist, anti-capalist, feminist speculative fiction. Phenomenal considerations of race, difference, gender, disability and ability, caplitalism, the prison industrial complex, and other issues. This is probably the best book I've purchased all year.

As the subtitle makes clear, this is an anthology with an agenda, and it's an agenda that will inflame certain parties in recent kerfuffles in the science fiction community.That said, this is an enjoyable collection. The stories are varied in setting, viewpoint, and kind. There's an incipient uprising against both a hoard of zombies and the politically repressive response to the zombie hoard. There's a gentle story of a woman attempting to reconnect with both her dead grandfather and her very much alive daughter, in an alternate history where the Civil War started in 1859, and the slaves won. A woman has to decide how she's going to react to a government that's finally responding to global warming, in a way that may be both too much, and not enough. One choice will cut her off from her mother and the place she grew up; another will cut her off from her partner and her life now. Is there a third choice, and can she do it? A young man who is the token black superhero opts out of the nonsense--until he finds out how he matters to young people, and a away to make a contribution that matters to him.The authors include names all sf readers will recognize, like Tananarive Due and Terry Bisson, and people who've never written sf, or even fiction, before. Possibly for that reason, there are a number of stories that I read and thought, that's a set-up for a story I'd like to read the rest of...Having said that, while there are a number of "beginning, middle, no actual end" pieces, there's nothing here I didn't enjoy. There's nothing here that has that special sense you get when mainstream writers go slumming and assume that "science fiction means it doesn't have to make sense." All the writers here respect their readers and their material. The editors didn't excuse lesser work because they wanted a particular name or a particular theme included. Despite being an anthology with an agenda, there's no pounding the reader over the head, except to the extent that happens with any themed anthology when you read straight through rather than dipping in.I'll carry away from it a particular fondness for "The Token Superhero," by David Walker, and "The River," by Andrienne Maree Brown.I've been saying "read" throughout this review; that's a very loose usage. I listened to the audiobook, and the narrator's voice is excellent, strong, clear, and expressive.Recommended.I received a free copy of the audiobook in exchange for an honest review.

This was a book that I wanted to love, really badly. Speculative/science-fiction and social justice? That's a great theme for a collection of short-stories. Unfortunately, it was the writing that came up short.Many of the stories have some great ideas, but they're never developed. I understand that these are short-stories, but to be satisfying to read, it still has to be a completely realized vision. Despite the unique ideas present in some of the stories, I found reading the entire book to be a bit of a slog, given the inconsistency. It takes more than imagination and good intentions to make a great work of fiction.

This is a remarkable presentation of the vast difference between what is taught in most medical schools in which the enphasis is on "What disease does the patient have?" versus the role of the primary physician who is concerned with how does this person adapt to what ever disease he has and how does it affect his life. Pediatricians are rated highly in this task in that they are so often involved on an ongoing basis with children and parents thru minor and major illnesses...as well as during life's normal challenges!. I love the story line and look forward to the next book

I’ve read every book in this series. Some have been great, one or two were real stinkers. I totally enjoyed this book. It has a delicious beginning with some snappy dialog, a slightly draggy middle with multiple assassination attempts and political ramblings, and a great ending. Dino smiled at the end and so did I.The story picks up immediately after the previous book (A Delicate Touch). Stone and his lady love, NYT reporter Jamie Cox, are at his estate on the Beaulieu River in England. They are lying low and trying to avoid retaliation from the Thomas/Tomasini family who were mightily angered over events from the previous book in the series. Unfortunately, the Thomas family tracks Stone to England causing him and assorted friends to flee to NY > Maine > Nantucket > Key West > and back to NY for a final showdown.There are brief cameo appearances by a few old friends, such as Felicity Devonshire, Ed Rawls, Holly Barker, and Lance Cabot. Bob Cantor plays a larger role in this story. It also features a bit part by a pompous actor over whom Stone displays a touch of jealousy (Stone jealous? Huh).On the downside, there was a lot of political claptrap that was tiresome (not so much about political ideology as about long ramblings on the process of running for President). This seems to be a set-up for a future book about Holly’s run for President. I just page-flipped through these sections. Also, I learned there is an overabundance of iguanas in Key West which leads some people to kill them with air guns and pellets. Huh.

I don’t think most people realize how rare four editions are in a hiking guide. Nor how hard it is to keep a hiking book up to date over more than a decade, especially in an area like Santa Barbara where land use regulations, property rights and floods can change Trail routes in a heartbeat. But here we are with the fourth edition of my favorite among Robert Stone’s many hiking guides to the California Coast.I love this book first and foremost because I love the Santa Barbara region. If any place epitomizes Mediterranean climate in California this is it. Lots of great beach and bluff walks, hikes along the steep but not very high mountains abutting the Santa Barbara coast, and the many trails in the Okami area and Sespe wilderness cry out for spring and early summer exploration.I’ve walked a little over half the trails in this book, and after reading the new edition am already plotting a couple of short weekend backpack trips to Santa Barbara this May. But should you get the book if you have one of the earlier editions? The answer is a qualified yes. Enough routes have changed (and the author has added three new hikes) that the new edition is worth it. But if you like casual strolls along beaches and bluffs to see wildlife (seals, monarch butterflies, and more) then many of the short classic hikes have remained unchanged. It’s a tribute to the communities around Santa Barbara that they have maintained such incredible trails in a landscape where rapid change is the norm. And everyone, not just locals, will be richly rewarded by exploring the trails in this book.
