I ordered a copy for my students and also bought it for my Kindle to check it out before it arrived. (That probably wasn't necessary, but at least now I have a children's book on my Kindle in case I ever need one!) The book was chosen for one of my first graders who always grumbles about how much he hates reading. He LOVES this book! I'm pretty sure it's the words 'butt on chair' that kept his attention. Do I love having books with "butt" in them for 1st graders? No. Am I willing to do what it takes to get kids interested in reading? Yes. Cute book, regardless!

My 1st grader is not in to reading AT ALL. She struggles with it. After hearing everyone in school and at home talk about how awesome reading is, how much "power" it gives you, how you can explore new worlds through books...I think she just felt discouraged and different because she truly does not like reading ANYTHING. Then I forced her to read this book...within 2 pages, she lit up. She found her tribe. Other kids feel the same as her!? What? They pick books with big pictures so there are less words? Like she does? This book touched her in a place that no other book has and honestly made her feel not so alone. She thought is was hilarious. It also sends a message that all parents, schools and teachers make kids read (not just struggling readers), and it is OK if you are one of the kids that secretly hates it. Exactly what she needed!

He loved it. My son hates reading. He is a head of his grade for reading. He isn't ready to give up picture books, but the books for his age are to simple. This was simple but a great introduction to why books without pictures can be fun. He loved it. Also check out the kindle book this book has no pictures. He loved that too.

I Hate Reading is an adorable little book that I would absolutely recommend for any child that hates reading.I Hate Reading is a very cleverly written book. It addresses a subject that plagues many children, a dislike of reading. Let's face it, some kids are readers and love to read books and other kids would rather do anything but read. This book appeals to the second group of kids, the ones who would rather do anything else but read. This book brings a dislike of reading into the foreground with humor and laughter. The child will turn page after page, and read for the humor and laughter effect, and of course the end result is that when they reach the end of the book they have actually read the book.The book does not have pictures like you would expect to find in most books. It has some simple graphics, and while they are simple like movie reels and arrows, they are also cleverly placed and fit the book beautifully. I listened to a 7 year old and her 9 year old brother read this book. They took turns page after page, and giggled through most of it. The highlight for the kids was the "butt on chair" page which has a very simple graphic that is brilliantly placed that resembles butt cheeks. Of course that page got the most laughter and giggles out of the kids.As someone who has worked extensively in classrooms with kids over the years, I have come to learn that some kids learn better through humor than through actually doing things the regular way. This book truly emphasizes that. As a former teacher, I would have loved to see this book touch upon why reading is so important, and not just be an anti-reader-that-makes-you-read, if that makes sense. Overall, a delightful and fun read that will have even anti-readers laughing from beginning to end, I highly recommend this book.

Not at all what I was expecting! I'm sure the book is to be taken as tongue in cheek but felt like instead of encouraging reading it just made fun of reading. They may read this book but it definitely doesn't help encourage them to read anything else (other than road signs) it only gives them more ideas how to fake reading and to get out of it.

I Hate Reading is a hilarious and clever book to get your kid engaged in reading. Starting out as a “cheat sheet” for getting out of reading, it actually draws you in and then you can’t stop till you’re done. Before your know it, you’re child while have done their 20 minutes of reading without even realizing it. My son thought it was cute, and suggested we buy another for his friend's birthday.

This was a great book. My son absolutely loved it. He read the book several times and told me all about it. I even laughed out loud several times. This was along the same lines as The Book With No Pictures. I love how the author takes something so mundane as reading and makes it come to life. I like how silly the book was because it makes kids want to read the story as well as listen to the story. I highly recommend this book to anyone who wants their kids to love reading.

I purchased this for my granddaughter and she read it right away and she liked the book. She thought it was fun and got the message of the book so it did what it was supposed to and I only wish it was longer because there was not a lot of reading on each page but I guess that is how you get someone to read who does not like it. I think the humor in this book helped her to see reading is not so bad and she is reading a new book now.

I laughed when I started to read this cookbook. When reading the Harry Potter books, I thought to myself that food should be considered a character in the story and I am glad to see that I am not the only one who noticed. Find recipes, as well as real life history, for some of the Hogwarts favorite edibles in this fun holiday cookbook. Enjoy a traditional Christmas Pudding, Cornish Pasties, Peppermint Humbugs and other recipes. This is actually only a teaser for the full cookbook and only loosely tied to the Harry Potter books, however I found it fun.

If you love the wizarding world of Harry Potter then you will adore this book. So many fun recipes themed around Harry Potter. we love mashed potatoes but the "fluffy mashed potato" recipe took it to another level. and right after that they have a gravy recipe to go along with it that takes something so simple and makes it superb. I would really like to plan a Harry Potter themed party and use all recipes from this book because so far the ones ive tried are delicious.

Great for those Harry Potter fans you love to live with the story. It tells you which book and chapter each recipe is from so great for those basing parties on or cooking with their kids/grandkids, while reading the books.It's easy to follow and they are awesome.

I recently purchased this harry potter inspired cook book. First off let me tell you I am a huge harry potter fan. Book and movie wise. I have had enough time now to try out a few recipes and i love them! I would deff recommend this to any hp fan or someone who is wanting to try new things out. I was super lucky and recieved this ecopy completely free for my unbiased and honest review.

My sister bought this for me for Christmas and can I just tell you how much I love this book. I have made several recipes from here and they have all turned out amazing. Plus being a total Harry Potter fan it brings you that sense of connection to the book. At the beginning of each recipe it gives you the book and chapter of when the characters where eating the recipe.

I'm not going to complain about a book that I got for free. I would be complaining if I had paid for it. It has some decent recipes in it but not the ones you might expect in a Harry Potter themed cookbook. I expected more Wizard food and less Muggle food. Oh well. For what it's worth, the book IS very well written and the recipes, though not what I expected, sound great.

Most of these recipes seem easy. Lots of traditional Thanksgiving and Christmas recipes like turkey, cranberry sauce and pumpkin pie. These are recipes from the original Unofficial Harry Potter Cookbook not new recipes.

IT is a great cookbook. Each recipe starts by placing it into the story line of the book; where it appears and what Harry is going. If there is a description in the book like the knickerbocker glory the receipe gives direction on how to make it as it is described. It's fun for the children to bring some of the books magic home for their own enjoyment. There are many other recipes to have fun with. Since Harry is set in England these receives also bring a little bit of British cuisine to the table. Easy to follow some items hard to find but substitutions are easy.

Margaret Moses did an excellent job of filling in the preexisting gap of a lack of a concise, annotated hornbook/study guide on International Commercial Arbitration. Her book is a kind of cross between a "Nutshell" and a "Hornbook", designed to teach students or anyone who wants an introduction to this area. It covers all the topics a student in the typical ICA course is likely to need to know. Of course, like any other book it can get dated, and certain things, such as the Supreme Court's decision in Hall Street, are not in the book, but that's obviously not the author's fault. I highly recommend this book to anyone who is in or is going to take a course in ICA, or someone who can't or won't take such a course but wants to know the basics. Definitely way better than anything else on the topic in this area, and not too expensive either!

International arbitration is not difficult, but it has to be seen whole. That's what this book lets the student do.As every law professor knows, teaching and learning law are a battle against confusion. The key to winning the battle is context. When students see the big picture, clearly exposited, they grasp the intricacies. Without context, they flounder.This is a short book, which is its main virtue. In law or any other field, clarity and brevity are hard won. Moses put in the labor to be brief and clear. Yet she also includes ample citations for wider reading. We are grateful.

The best trait of a lecturer and writer is the ability to present jargons into layperson's language.Margaret Moses not only writes concisely on this area of the law, she does it so well without omitting important details and information. This book is recommendable for all, and is the best answer for a technical expert who may have to sit in as an arbitrator. She also carefully arranged the topics in such a way that ICA is presented like a story, it flows from one process to another and how all the concepts and the complexities in the world of arbitration falls into place, and why it is so.Her writing is easy to follow, and she has taken the liberty to interview arbitrators and put helpful insights in her book. She also presented several good sample clauses, and sample of introductory/preliminary letters to be sent to claimants in her book.For anyone grappling with the intricacies of ICA, this book is a must-read. Even for the experts, it is very handy to have this book to recommend it to others.She speaks not only academically correctly, she does it with a perfect balance, in sharing practical viewpoints. She clearly delineate the differences between common law and civil law approach to arbitration in several procedural issues. Essential reading for anyone interested in interpretation or place based education. This version includes a preface that puts the book into context and provides a biography of Tilden. The main text of the book remains largely unchanged. Several lectures are included at the end. I'm glad I got the new version because the additions were very valuable.The tone of the book is straightforward and accessible. This was Tilden's intent. Every point he makes is supported by real world examples, mostly from the National Park Service. Although the book may seem simple, it has had a profound effect on our country in the last 50 years. The fact that much of the advice in this book seems obvious is a testament to its effectiveness. We are now a country that has grown up with a National Park Service that understands how to reach people not just present information.

The first chapter of this book is essential reading for anyone interested or working in heritage interpretation. In the first chapter Tilden posits 6 principles of interpretation. Tilden argues that heritage interpretation must first and foremost be relevant to the visitor. Interpretation is informative, but more so it aims to provoke thought and emotion; in other words, to resonant with the visitor. Interpretation is an interdisciplinary art that is teachable.It should aim at presenting a whole narrative, rather than relating informative fragments. Lastly, interpretation for children should not be a distillation of a presentation for adults, but rather a separate and distinct interpretive approach.The following chapters are enjoyable to read and offer a deeper insight into Tilden's interpretive philosophy. I particularly appreciated the extent to which Tilden's theories were inspired by Transcendentalist philosophy, especially the writings of Ralph Waldo Emerson.

I learned a lot with this book on how to be an interpretive guide. The book is old but not dated and certainly nothing better has been written. It is even used in universities for students getting a degree in non-profits such as museums. It is still as helpful as when it was written. It was recommended to me by a director of a non-profit where I volunteer, when I asked for guidance.

Readers: If you read this then it is sure you are not acquianted with MR.Tilden's Book. This text, now in reprint, is the Standard Work for thoes involved with presenting the Past to the Present. Tho written decades ago, originally for the N.P.S., its vaule has not been diluted with the Passing of Time, and its lessons carry beyound the bounds of the National Park Service Instructional Courses, for which it is written. Much of the text is devote to non-historical sites, the Grand Canyon, Yosemtie Park &tc. but there is much than can be 'borrowed' and applied to Historical Sites, such as Mt.Vernon, Montpeilier &tc. Mr. Tildens '6 Rules of Interpertation' alone, are worth the price of the Book. This writer will state, without reservation, if you are new to Historical Interpertaion or are a Guide at some Natural Feature; or an 'old hand ' who never owned a Copy of this Book; that you Buy a Copy Right Now, read it, mark it well, take some liner notes, and then apply them to your work with the Publick; the Publick will surely gain from your increased ability to communicate the Message of your Location For the Record, this writer recieved the Book as a gift from his wife, even tho he had been an Historical Interpertor for years. Freeman Tilden was an advocate of environmental education and is considered the originator of interpretation movement within national and state parks. This latest edition includes a new introduction section that gives a background of Tilden's life and thought processes, which sets the stage nicely for Tilden's writings. The theme book is based on the mission of "interpretation" as given by NPS director Conrad Wirth in 1953, "protection through appreciation, appreciation through understanding, and understanding through interpretation."Throughout the book, Tilden defends interpretation as an educational activity. What I find most interesting is the fact that Tilden's strategies for success as an interpreter in parks also apply to natural science classrooms. First of all, Tilden states that the aim of interpretation should be "to reveal meanings and relationships through the use of original objects, by firsthand experience, or by illustrative media, rather than simply to communicate factual information." Inquiry-based learning, usually in the form of original research projects, should be the foundation of science classes, not rote memorization. In Tilden's mind, our national, state, or city parks are the best and greatest natural classrooms for teaching individuals the basics of ecology.Finally, Tilden understood the importance of meeting individuals where they are, no matter their age. "The visitor's chief interest is in whatever touches his personality, his experience, and his ideas. Students must be engaged before they can learn. Tilden supported formalized environmental education for primary school students. However, he knew that we did not have to wait another generation. "We must reach adults, by spoken or written words," Tilden stated. As an educator, it is really easy to blame previous grade levels for a student's lack of knowledge. Tilden would agree that blaming others is a waste of time. Educators of all types should meet students where they are, regardless of age, and engage them in science using nature's principles.The principles of this book still ring true today. If you are interested in any type of wildlife education or science education in general, I would recommend this book.

I’m hoping this book will help me on the upcoming tests I have in OB this semester. If not then hopefully the NCLEX.

I don’t care for the book. The questions don’t make since.

Love it

As a nursing professor, I love these FA Davis Test Success products. This Pediatric test success product is not different. It is an NCLEX style question and answer review of the topic and of course, this is for pediatric nursing content. All Davis products in this particular series used the RACE Model to help students do better with answering of nursing NCLEX-style type questions. This model is one that I also reinforce with students which is a simple model but is a key to help students figure out the correct answer especially when they get their answer choices down to 2 alternatives. This book has a chapter on pharmacology, growth and development, then looks at the various health issues associated with pediatrics. The main thrust of this resource is the test questions with rationale and they look at the rationale for both the correct and incorrect answers. They also use the RACE method throughout the book as well so they use what they preach. At the end, there is a comprehensive exam for practice. So, this is a comprehensive "success series" resource that I highly suggest that students get and use as they take the various courses in their nursing program. While I teach Fundamentals (and yes, there is a Fundamentals Test for Success version), I think this is one of the best series that I have come across. Also, I think that the future editions will be updating (at least that is what the book rep. has told me) the questions to be more in line with NextGen (Next Generation) of the questions most like to be on the future NCLEX exams which will be in full swing by 2022. So, with 900 NCLEX style pediatric questions, alternative-format questions, and rationales, along with a free 30-day trial to the Davis Edge NCLEX-Style questions which has 10,000+ questions on all areas of testing on the NCLEX, what is not to like!

“Pediatric Success: NCLEX®-Style Q&A Review (Q&A Success)" by Richardson is a great resource for learning how to ace the NCLEX exam. Like other NCLEX exam guides, each chapter contains an overview of the subject matter followed by a multitude of sample questions. The correct answers are listed and followed by lengthy and detailed explanations for why it was the chosen answer. Among the areas covered are neuromuscular, digestive, cardiovascular, gastrointestinal, and respiratory.Test taking hints/strategies are also suggested. In addition, users get a code that enables them to access the online version, which includes an additional 10,000 NCLEX style questions to test yourself with. Access is granted only for 30 days but this should be more than enough. Overall this an excellent and comprehensive resource.

In the tradition of the Davis Success Series, this resource is widely recognized as a near "must-have" for the diligent student. We have a couple RN's in the family and they agree. Well presented in a Q&A style with test-taking tips included. This 2019 third edition appears up-to-date. Of note (regarding current concerns), I searched the pharmacology section and then the index, regarding opioids. Nothing there. However, as this volume focuses on pediatrics, I suppose that is acceptable (and . . . I trust that this text is linked fully to the actual NCLEX issues).

"Pediatric Success: NCLEX®-Style Q&A Review (Q&A Success)" by Beth Richardson PhD RN CPNP FAANP is presented in a way that has few distractions. Each chapter is a subject matter to review. The first half in a chapter are questions and the second half are the answers with specific explanations for what is correct and what is not correct. Interspersed are test taking hints/strategies but again, it is presented in a way that reduces distractions and allows the reader to focus on the subject matter. The straightforward presentation is the best feature of this line of books and it delivers at that level.
