I had no idea that Johnny Cash had this depth of knowledge of Judaism and Christianity. I am truly impressed. The book is also a great read. For some reason I always had the opinion that Johnny was most likely a Christian in name only. This book proves me completely wrong. I have always been impressed with his lyrics and his musical talent. Now I can add depth to that.
As a life-time Johnny Cash fan, I've always been interested in his gospel message behind his public persona. This book shines a light into his heart revealing his love for his Messiah and the message of the Scriptures as he understood them. Johnny often talked of his desire to bring out more of his "evangelistic" side in his life, but his role as a country music superstar seemed to keep him away from doing that. Sadly many of his music fans miss out on the deeper things that were going on inside of him and they only see him as "the man in black". Learning about "the man in white" brings even more depth and perspective to one of country music's greatest singers/songwriters/performers ever. This man knew a lot more about Scripture and his Messiah than many of those posing as preachers today. They could definitely take a "page" from his book.
Most profound and informative book I ever read. It is basically a history book of circa 6th century AD and details the life of Paul the Apostle during that period. It answers a ton of questions that may have bothered any Christian.Buy it!
I had no idea that Johnny Cash had ever written a book, and to find out that he wrote about Saul of Tarsus was even more of a surprise.It was obviously well researched, and it was well written. It kept me interested and gave me an interesting perspective on the whole subject.The introduction was very interesting as well, and certainly gave me new insights into Johnny Cash. I recently also read his daughter's autobiography, which was excellent, and his introduction touched on some of the things she wrote about, so Man in White came along at a perfect time for me.
Great book, living in California "the modern Sodom and Gomorrah" I had been listening to alot of Johnny Cash' s music trying to remember what America was like before I went into the service. He has been a catalyst to awakening my interest in Christianity to try to find some peace in a land of degenerates, freeloaders, and junkies.
This book tells the story of Paul in the most believable way. It will be worth your time and effort to read it.
Best book I've read in a while. Glad I found it! Recommended reading, whether Bible scholar or not. Highly recommend!
