I have the three of these books. My four years old is almost in Suzuki book 2 and a little behind in reading music. The "I can read music" book does not explain much and she cannot listen to the rhythm to confirm if it is correct. These books were a life saver. They are a wonderful way to help gain confidence in music reading. I use combined these books with other music reading books. However this one is one of my favorites. My daughter can play the notes while listening to the recording. The recording could be played as slow or fast as she needs. She is tuning her ears at the same time as she is gaining confidence in reading music. They also motivate my daughter since they have well known songs that a child can play very soon. They are comprehensive enough and They have good information and a good amount of songs. The font is larger than most reading books and easy for a small child to read. With the access code located at the front page of the book you can order the CD-room in the case your internet is slow. The price is very affordable. I would give ten stars!

I have recently started using this book for position training in place of commonly used materials. It presents position in a lucid and straightforward manner and quickly guides the student into shifting between positions in a practical manner. Best of all, it includes 2nd position and includes exercises for shifting between the first 3 positions. I call it "Whistler Lite", and while I can't yet determine if Essential Technique is as effective in presenting the positions as the standard red and green books, it certainly does get today's busy student through this all important material in a quick and efficient manner.

Essential Elements is what I used to learn music in band as a kid. As an adult I am trying to expand my musical knowledge and this has been a great help! It comes with all kinds of tips and tricks as well as access to their website which gives the lessons online! It is a valuable resource for learning how to play an instrument! I bought all 3 volumes for Violin.

Love this series, really makes you work on the basics through most of the book, and then brings it all together in what are called performance spotlights. I have been working through this with my teachers and after a year of lessons, I am half way through second book. (I already bought the third.) Get the book, then get a teacher. The disk can provide a reference for tone, but you will not progress as fast as possible unless you have an experienced player teaching you.

If you want to buy a violin method for learn violin, this is the indicated. The book has a very friendly and clear explanations about the music concepts. The diagrams are very useful, easy to understand and reinforce every time your knowledge. In the other side the support material as mp3, videos, software for music notation and practices are all very very useful. I was surprised with this method. I compared this method with the traditional Suzuki books and honestly, I found the Essential Elements very superior than Suzuki. I recommend it 100%. Obviously this method required that you be constant.

Bought for my daughter. She said it was the right book and had what she needed.

This book is great for beg/interm who want to continue advancing in the violin. It is so easy to learn from this book.I have tried other books but they seem too complicated and I cant tell what Im supposed to learn. In this book they teach you third position, the remaining major scales from the second book and rhythm.Awesome book.

This's a good item with reasonable price.
