If you ever lived in Cleveland in the 40's through the 60's, you most certainly would have gone to Euclid Beach Park. This amusement park is featured in this book by the Cleveland writer who has taken me back in time to the days when I lived there. My first memory of the park was the pony cart ride. The ponies were real, the carts had reins and there I was, age five, driving my cart with my "own" pony. Later years, the other rides were fun. And the fun house where two laughing ladies could be heard all across the park was full of mystery! Humphreys, the popcorn balls and taffy sold in a glassed in shop in the middle of the park, is where one could watch the taffy being pulled by huge machines! (I have been known to order the popcorn balls on their Internet site just to refresh my memories!) The park closed down and someone told me that there are apartments there. But, if you wish to take a walk backwards to refresh your memories. this book will be a winner for you!
Cleveland Amusement Park Memories was bought as a Christmas gift for my nephew. He loves it, and said it was on his Wish List. (Unbeknown to me). I looked through the book before I mailed it to him and I liked it too, so I will be buying one for myself.
Brought back many great memories... particularly of Euclid Beach (which was about 15 minutes drive away from home) and Geauga Lake Park where the annual National Screw and Mfg, Co. Picnic took place (all rides were free, there was huge picnic for employees and baseball games featuring various departments for that years "World Series of National"
This arrived in a timely manner and the period photography is excellent. I am very glad to have this piece of nostalgia, a record of a bygone era.

i cant begin to calculate how many hours I spent as a youth at Euclid Beach Park and Geauga Lake as well, everyone had an opinion about who had the best coasters, I always thought Geauga Lake had the best one but Euclid Beach just had more. This book does an excellent job in bringing back all the good memories of a time that was special in this baby boomers life, at that particular time these parks were just about the coolest thing going and made living in Cleveland fun.
